90’s Kid Special: The Angry Beavers (ft. John Derevlany)

For the first episode of the 90’s kid special we talked about two funny beavers living in a dam in Oregon, the Angry Beavers, created by Mitch Schauer. Angry Beavers ran on Nickelodeon from 1997 to 2001 and they are an icon of the 90’s cartoon culture. Tune in to dig deeper into the creation of this masterpiece, with an exclusive interview with one of its writers; John Derevlany, we learned about its animation style, the messages behind their stories and how the creators had really no idea of the impact it was going to have on an entire generation of 90’s kids.

Season 2 Announcement: 90’s Kids Special

If you happen to love animation like we do, then you likely got your start with some zany and wild 90s cartoons from the likes of nickelodeon and Cartoon network. 
 
Imagine, a room full of 20 something year olds writers and animators creating a world that would be absorbed by millions of children who would spend hours watching and learning all these bizarre jokes and trippy adventures, children that today we call “30yo kids” - the 90’s kids. 
 
To honor this entire generation of creatives, the ones who formed us, we are launching the second season of our show, stay tuned and join us as we open the time capsule of our childhood, welcome to the 90’s kid special.

This week the guys watched and talked about a movie that looked really exciting and like it had potential, that fell short by a mile. It's not every movie that Tej and Kyle agree so wholeheartedly. It's a coming of age story that should have focused on coming of age and less on the setting of the character coming to age.

Strap in for a wild ride as the guys race into a must see by anyone who loves animation and its history film. It's Katsuhiro Otomo's 1988 class "Akira." Set in post apocalyptic Japan after the events of World War 3 it follows a motorcycle gang as they embark on the ride of a life time, complete with military baddies and psychic wrinkled children.
